CWRU APAMSA’s Asiatown Health Fair is an annual community event providing free, accessible health screenings, preventive care resources, and culturally tailored health education to residents of Cleveland’s Asiatown neighborhood, a predominantly Asian American community that also includes other immigrant and marginalized/ low-income groups. Services include blood pressure and glucose checks, vision and dental screenings, and patient education in multiple languages (Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and others), with interpreters available to ensure linguistic accessibility. This event directly supports APAMSA’s mission to address the unique health challenges of AANHPI communities by combining culturally competent care with community engagement. By partnering with local healthcare providers, student volunteers, and community organizations, the fair reduces barriers to care, promotes preventive health, and fosters trust between the medical community and underserved populations. Raffles and interactive booths further engage attendees and encourage participation in health-promoting activities.
