Community Events

This event comprises a 1-hour educational, interactive workshop that focuses on the Asian monolith bias and the nature of different health disparities that affect specific AANHPI subgroups. This is the product of the Building the Next Generation of Academic Physicians (BNGAP) Writing Fellowship, which was awarded to a group of APAMSA members earlier in 2023. Participants will be administered a pre-workshop and post-workshop survey for evaluation of the workshop. Our eventual goal is to create an online, scaleable version of this workshop that will hopefully be integrated into our medical school curriculum and potentially be made available to medical students across the US. Helping to disaggregate the Asian American monolith through this workshop aligns with APAMSA’s mission to promote the health of the AANHPI community and help future healthcare professionals understand how to care for patients within different AANHPI subgroups in a culturally sensitive manner.
