As part of our Health Equity Community Health Forum, we will be hosting an Instagram Live event titled “Movember: Men’s Mental Health Discussion” on Sunday, December 1st, 2024, at 5 PM CST / 6 PM EST.

This event aims to address the pressing issue of men’s mental health in the South Asian community, where stigma and cultural barriers often prevent open conversations and access to resources. Moderated by Karan Gowda and Aakash Ray from SAAPRI, the session will feature Zaneb Mansha, a South Asian American therapist specializing in culturally competent mental health care.

The discussion will cover:

The significance of prioritizing men’s mental health and breaking societal and cultural barriers.
The unique challenges faced by South Asian men when it comes to seeking help.
Practical advice and resources to promote mental well-being in the community.

This event also emphasizes the importance of precision medicine, particularly in addressing the lack of health data and tailored health solutions for minorities, including South Asian Americans. By fostering dialogue about men’s health, we aim to encourage participation in research initiatives like the All of Us Program, which seeks to build a more inclusive health database to inform individualized care and improve health equity for underrepresented populations.

This live session will be hosted on SAAPRI’s Instagram platform (@saaprichi), engaging a broad audience and initiating impactful conversations to support health equity in our communities. By linking the Movember movement with the broader goals of precision medicine and data inclusivity, we hope to inspire meaningful action toward better health outcomes for all.
