Liver inflammation is caused by many dangerous viruses, and hepatitis A, B, and C are the most common. Hepatitis B and C can lead to chronic inflammation, and are the main cause of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer. In 2022, it was estimated that 880,000 to 1.89 million individuals were living with hepatitis B, and 2.4 to 3 million were living with hepatitis C in the U.S.
