SUMMARY:2023 Asian American Cancer Health Symposium
DESCRIPTION:Asian Americans\, the fastest-growing racial/ethnic group in the U.S.\, are the only racial/ethnic group in the U.S. for whom cancer is the leading cause of death in men and women. Asian Americans have higher rates of certain cancers\, including liver cancer\, that can be attributed to culture and infectious factors\, as well as the adoption of the American diet high meat low vegetable diet\, and sedentary lifestyle. \nCancer health education and advocacy are critical to improving cancer literacy and activating persons in cancer prevention practices and screening. Healthcare systems and providers must respond to the specific cancer risks and care needs of the fastest-growing racial/ethnic group in the U.S. to eliminate health disparities. \nOn May 27\, 2023\, Saturday\, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.\, American Cancer Society\, City of Hope\, and Global Federation of Chinese Businesswomen Greater Los Angeles Chapter will also host a free cancer health symposium at City of Hope\, Cooper Auditorium\, 1500 E Duarte Rd.\, Duarte\, CA 91010 on cancer health advancement and tobacco prevention and control. Registration is required. Free refreshments and raffle prizes. The event will be live streamed.
