“The upcoming event is the Regional Conference for the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA), hosted by Baylor College of Medicine on Saturday, September 27th. This year’s conference will serve Regions IV and IX, encompassing medical schools in the South and Southeast. Our primary audience includes medical students from these regions, as well as undergraduate students preparing to apply to medical school. Based on attendance at prior regional conferences, we anticipate approximately 150 participants.

The overarching goal of the conference is to foster community and connection among AANHPI students in the field of medicine. The program for our conference will feature a keynote speaker, workshops, and a research poster session. The workshops cover topics such as applying to medical school and residency, health issues prevalent in the AANHPI community, and hands-on simulation skills. We have invited speakers to discuss the impact of hepatitis on the AANHPI community, the risks of alcohol flush, policy and advocacy. Through our conference, we aim to provide both professional development and a platform for meaningful networking, ultimately strengthening the support network for current and future AANHPI physicians. “
